Janis A. Uhler, age 97 of Franklin, TN passed away June 19, 2016. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Charles & Martha Schultz. Preceded in death by husband of 61 years, Lester Uhler. Survived by sons, Doug Uhler of Franklin, TN and Jerrel (Ingrid) Uhler of Upland, CA; grandchildren, Amber (John) Winborn, Lacey (Peter) Cromley, Cody Uhler, Jerrod Uhler and Lukas Uhler; great-grandchildren, John "J" Winborn, Haven Winborn, Allie Winborn, Maebri Cromley, Ella Cromley; daughter in-law, Gail Uhler. Affectionately called "Granny" by many, Jan had a true affinity for black coffee, dark chocolate, fancy shoes and good manners. Although she never learned to drive a car, she owned a successful dry cleaning business and made much of her own clothing. She took great pride in caring for her family and she was an excellent cook. Family favorites were Jewish Pudding, sticky buns, pork & dumplings and her famous chili. She was a traditionalist who never left the house in anything but a classy outfit and beautiful jewelry. Everyone felt important in her presence. Sweet with a touch of sass and you always knew her true feelings about everything. Her happy, loving and genuine personality made you want to be a better person. She loved reading novels and poetry and spent many of her days under the Florida sun. Her family will always remember her as an amazingly loving wife to Les and a powerfully devoted mother. Her grandkids and great-grandkids will forever be grateful for the time they shared with their "Granny". Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Alive Hospice.
