Dr. Jeffrey Stuart Parker passed away last week in Quincy, MA. Jeff was a Senior Scientist with Proctor & Gamble's Gillette Division in Boston. He was born February 26, 1972 in Denton, Texas, and though he moved to Tennessee with his family at age 4, he always considered himself a Texan, and was a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan. Jeff was a 1990 graduate of Brentwood High School. He held a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University, as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics degrees from Florida State University. He was involved in post-doctoral research at the University of Minnesota for several years before accepting his most recent position in Boston. As early as fifth grade Jeff aspired to be, in his words, a "physicist dude" and he worked tirelessly to achieve that objective. Jeff enjoyed youth sports in football, baseball and basketball, and played varsity football at Brentwood High School. He was passionate about his work and was highly respected by his professional colleagues. Jeff was preceded in death by grandparents Autie and Lillian Parker and Rev. Kenneth McCrory. He leaves behind to mourn his loss: parents Mike and Kennie Parker of Nashville; brother John and his wife Jenifer of Nashville; sister Ellen Brown and her husband Trev of Sterrett, AL; treasured nieces Elisabeth Brown and SaraBeth Brown also of Sterrett, AL; grandmother Nadine McCrory Higgs and her husband Bob of Lyles, TN; aunt Rebecca Lee and her husband Jimmy of Lavergne, TN; uncles Eddie McCrory and Ron McCrory and his wife Linda also of Lyles, TN. In addition, he leaves a host of cousins and other extended family. Jeff was an advocate of charitable giving. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Jeff's memory to the MTSU Department of Physics and Astronomy Student Scholarship Award Endowment or to the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00PM Saturday, February 21, 2015 with visitation two hours prior to the service at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Dr. Jeff Wilson and Rev.
