William Jerry Odom "Jerry" passed away, Wednesday, February 27, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. He was born January 20, 1937 in Nauvoo, Alabama.
He was graduated from Auburn University in 1959 with a degree in chemical engineering. His career spanned 35 years as an engineer and troubleshooter for Olin Chemical Corporation in the United States, Australia, South Africa, Iran, and Brazil. Following his retirement from Olin (Charleston, TN) 20 years ago, he and Peggy moved to Franklin, Tennessee. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Cleveland, Tennessee where he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Jerry is preceded in death by Aubrey Lovell Odom (father), Zelma Inez Odom (mother), Donald Sanford Odom (brother) and Thomas Howard Odom (brother).
He is survived by Peggy Larimer Odom (wife), Pamela Odom Oertling (daughter), Joel Darren Oertling (son-in-law), Hayley Anne Oertling (grand-daughter), Lauren Oertling Schiffgen (grand-daughter), Alex Schiffgen (grandson-in-law), Sandor Schiffgen (step great-grandson), Betty Odom Monroe (sister), Shelby Monroe (brother-in-law), Harriet Larimer Sabbatini (sister-in-law), many nieces, nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice of Nashville or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee.
