Joan Brizzie Sorgel, age 89 of Brentwood, Tennessee, formerly of Evanston, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019. She was born on Tuesday, September 6, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late Albert and Janet (nee York) Brizzie.
Joan was the loving mother of Steve (Makiko) Sorgel of Albuquerque, New Mexico, John (Sylvia) Sorgel of Chicago, Illinois and Andy (Karen) Sorgel of Louisville, Kentucky; cherished grandmother of Eric Sorgel; dear sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Joan earned a Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University and worked for and retired from Reynolds Metals after a long career in sales. She was active in Community Theater her entire life performing in many dramas, comedies and musicals. One of her favorite roles was Daisy in Driving Miss Daisy in which she won a Best Actress award by the Lakewood (TN) Theater Company. Joan will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Services: Visitation at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, 5200 Lucas and Hunt Road, St. Louis, Missouri on Thursday, July 18 from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials: Joan's family suggests that donations in her memory be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Boulevard, St. Louis, Missouri 63108.
