Joanne Bentley

May 19, 1964 — March 27, 2018

Joanne Louise (Cook) Bentley of Nashville, TN passed away March 27, 2018 after a long battle with lung cancer. She was 53 years old. Born in Bristol, England to Roger and Joan Cook, she moved to America with her family in 1976. Diagnosed at an early age with an Intellectual Developmental Disability, Joanne became a shining example of how much one can achieve if they have the will to do so, combined with the love and support of their family. She enjoyed 16 years of employment with the Kroger Corporation as a bakery assistant and married her soul mate Bruce Bentley in 2000. Joanne was known for her big smile and even bigger heart, and she carried that love and positivity with her throughout her many health setbacks. She is survived by her parents, Roger Cook and Joan Cook; step-mother, Kitty Cook; brother, Jason Cook; sister, Katie Cook Shoenfeld and brother-in-law Adam Shoenfeld; step-sisters, Megan Anderson and Sophie Burlein; brother-in-law Tony Burlein, and her many nieces & nephews, as well her extended family in England. She will be especially missed by her adoring love, Bruce Bentley.
