DALTON, John Ray, age 69 of Franklin, TN. July 14, 2010. Survived by parents, Frank & Marian Dalton of Spring Hill, TN; wife of 46 years, Betty Dalton; daughters, Leah (Mike) Berry of Knoxville, TN; Mary Rae (Brent) Moore of Franklin, TN; Julie (Matt) Teglas of Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Orly Berry, Alina & Jack Moore, Adeline Teglas. Graduate of Franklin High School and the University of Tennessee. Member of the UT football team, 1959-1963, and T-Club. Educator and coach at Ware County H.S., Waycross, GA, Tift County H.S., Tifton, GA., Franklin H.S., Franklin, TN. and Brentwood Academy, Brentwood, TN, for a career total of 46 years. Inducted into Tennessee Coaches Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2008. Wrestling gym in newly expanded Brentwood Academy Athletic Center dedicated and named Dalton Gymnasium in 2009. A loving and loyal Christian son, husband, father, grandfather, and mentor to students he taught and athletes he coached. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 17, 2010 at The Peoples Church, 828 Murfreesboro Rd., Franklin, TN with Dr Jim Harvey officiating. Pallbearers will be Mike Berry, Jim Burge, Thomas Fiveash, Carlton Flatt, Bobby Gentry, Jimmy Gentry, Brent Moore, Matt Teglas. Honorary Pallbearers are former Franklin High and Brentwood Academy athletes and fellow coaches. The family extends its appreciation to Dr. George L. Holmes, Dr. Craig Ferrell, and the Williamson Medical Center for their compassionate and dedicated care. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin, 129 West Fowlkes St. Suite 1000, Franklin, TN 37064. Also to Mercy Children's Clinic, 1113 Murfreesboro Rd.
