John Guffee, Sr.

John Brady "Johnny" Guffee, Sr., age 73 of Franklin, TN, passed away April 4, 2018. Johnny graduated from Battle Ground Academy and attended Auburn University. He was a renowned businessman and owner of the Log Cabin Markets. Johnny was also an avid quarter horse breeder with a passion for his farm. Johnny was a fourth generation Franklin native with a deep love for his community. He served as City of Franklin Alderman and president of the Franklin Noon Rotary Club, where he was named a Paul Harris Fellow. Along with his father, Dr. Harry Guffee, Uncle Bob Corley, and other Rotarians, Johnny was instrumental in the launch of the Franklin Rodeo. Johnny was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He had a kind spirit, a welcoming smile, and he will be sadly missed. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Harry and Dorothy Brady Guffee and brother, Paul Owen Guffee. He is survived by his wife and devoted companion of 25 years, Judge Sharon Guffee; son, Johnny, Jr. (Meghan) Guffee; daughters, Landis Guffee (Andrew) Myler and Brady Guffee; grandchildren, Piper, Ireland, and Elise Guffee; stepchildren, Christopher Tyler and Melissa Tyler; sisters, Dorothy "Dottie" Morton and Betty Jane (John) Barringer; brother, Harry (Dorothy) Guffee and other loving family members. Funeral services will be 12:00 Noon Monday, April 9, 2018, at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Officiant, Rev. Vona Wilson. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Guffee, Donnie Cameron, Johnny & Jimmy Jewell, Chas & Bert Morton, and Johnny & John Barringer, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Delk, Eddie Harber, Clarence Johnson, and Sam Moses.
