John Hancock

June 26, 1943 — July 25, 2015

Mr. John Hancock, age 72 of Franklin, TN passed away July 25, 2015. A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Hancock was elected to the Williamson County Commission for 30+ years, part of which he served as the chairman. After 30+ years he retired from American Airlines, and then served for 17 years as the Director of Transportation for the Williamson County School System.
He was instrumental in the founding of the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin, a long-time member of the Franklin Optimist Club, and advocated for several other civic and community organizations in Williamson County. He was a dedicated public servant to Williamson County, where his leadership will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by his father, John Arthur Hancock Sr.
Survived by his loving wife, Lisa Watson Hancock; mother, Vera Elizabeth Bradford Hancock; children, Richard O. (Ann) Hancock, Arthur L. "Art" (Leanne) Hancock, Chris (Jessica) Wheatley and Amanda (Kevin) Potts; brothers, Winston D. (Betsy) Hancock and Clifford L. (Debra) Hancock; grandchildren, Lindsey, John Erik and Stephen Hancock, Hunter Hancock, Neal and Wyatt Wheatley, Aubrey and Brady Potts.
Services will be conducted 5:00PM Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, David Schindel officiating. Visitation will be held 4-7PM Monday and 2-5PM Tuesday. Burial in Williamson Memorial Gardens with Honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Franklin.
