John Sullivan

SULLIVAN, Mr. John Vincent, age 85 of Franklin TN, formerly of Atkinson, NH, and Andover, MA, passed away August 18, 2014 in Nashville, TN. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mildred E. (Goddard) Sullivan; children John Charles and wife Nancy; Charles Edward and wife Tricia; Richard Brian; Patricia Ellen Ward and husband Steve; and Alyssa Sullivan Volker and husband Mark; sisters Ruth Fusco, Joan Sullivan and Mary Louise Long; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Sullivan grew up in Revere, MA and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1947. After earning an Associates degree at Burdett Business College, he began working at the John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company in 1951 as a Junior Cost Clerk and worked his way up to become Senior Vice President and Controller. Following his retirement in 1987, Mr. Sullivan was a member of the Board of Directors of St. Elizabeth's Hospital and chaired the fundraising committee for the development of the St. Margaret's Center for Women and Children. An avid boater, fisherman, golfer, singer, dancer, painter, and family man, Mr. Sullivan succumbed to cancer and passed peacefully with family by his side. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Father Bala celebrant. Memorials may be made to Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center or Alive Hospice of Nashville, TN. A local memorial service and gathering will be held in Massachusetts on September 13, 2014, time and location TBD.
