Johnnie Byrd

Johnnie Floriene Williams Byrd, 88, of Nashville, TN passed away on Dec. 22, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. She was a true example of a loving, Christian Wife and Mother. She was born and raised in Prentiss, MS and graduated from Prentiss High School before attending Mississippi College. She graduated from Blue Mountain College and went on to obtain her Masters in Religious Education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Mrs. Byrd was preceded in death by her mother, Flora Estelle Williams; her father, John Sharp Williams; and, her loving husband of 66 years, David Q. Byrd, Jr. Mrs. Byrd excelled as the Kindergarten Director of West Jackson Baptist Church and as an independent distributor for the Shaklee Corporation, a position which, in combination with many church mission trips, allowed her to see the world.
A lady with many talents, her most precious joy was her love for her family and their love for her. She is survived by her children, John Timothy Byrd, Sr. (Amber), Rebecca Elizabeth Byrd, and Laura Beth Bailey (Mark); her grandchildren, Heather Elizabeth Byrd, Brooklyn Nicole Byrd, Ryan Lee Bailey, Michelle Elizabeth Byrd Eaton (Joey), John Timothy Byrd, Jr., Rachel Elizabeth Bailey, Haileigh Morgan White Byrd, Holleigh Noelle White Byrd, Kaleigha Rae White Byrd, Tryniti Quinn Byrd; and, great-grandchildren Jadon Charles Eaton, Hudson Daniel Eaton and Lillian Piper Eaton.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Byrd Memorial Scholarship at Mississippi College or the David Q and Floriene Byrd Scholarship Fund at Union University.
Visitation will be from 4pm EST until 8pm EST on Thurs., Dec. 26 with the funeral service to take place at 11am EST on Fri., Dec. 27, both at the Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home at 3331 Taylorsville Rd. in Louisville, KY. Interment immediately to follow at the Cave Hill Cemetery at 701 Baxter Ave. in Louisville, KY.
