Jose Obando

Jose Miguel Obando, age 62 of Lavergne, TN passed away June 6, 2019. He was born in Managua, Nicaragua and moved to Tennessee twenty years ago. He worked as a Supervisor for Metro Davidson County Detention Center in the food department for seventeen years. During those work years he also worked as an accountant at Allegis Plumbing owned by his nephew. He was a tremendous, supporting and loving father who dedicated his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. He served in the military in Nicaragua as First Lieutenant and also received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration at Centro de Estudios Superiores (CES) in Managua, Nicaragua. While in Nicaragua he also was a preacher and a teacher sharing his life journey with many people and went on missionary trips around Nicaragua to share God's word. He also taught adults and children how to read during a Government campaign of Literacy. Also, he participated on the Rescue Team during Hurricane Juana, Hurricane Mitch and Nicaragua's Earthquake in 1972 by bringing food, water, medication and relocating people to a safer area. He was an intelligent man who carried himself in life as a humble individual and always gave a helping hand to anyone in need. Preceded in death by parents Miguel Obando Jaen and Mercedes Cajina Romero; brothers Carlos Aguilar and Orlando Leiva Cajina and sister Socorrito Leiva. Survived by: wife, Soraya Cristina Obando Saenz; sons, Rigoberto Ezequiel (Amy) Obando and Jonathan Josue Obando; daughter, Cynthia Soraya (Luis Armando) Ocasio; grandchildren, Ari Ezequiel Obando, Isabella Brooke Obando, Ela Grace Obando and Soraya Aislinn Obando Rojas and sisters; Lorgia Espinoza and Harling Leiva. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2019 Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Joe officiating. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Jose Miguel Obando Memorial Fund.
