Joseph Lannom, Sr.

December 29, 1927 — July 7, 2016

Mr. Joseph William "Pops" Lannom, Sr., age 88, of Nashville, TN passed away July 7, 2016 at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Born to the late Leonard Edward and Maude Vaughn Lannon. One of six children, he was raised in Donelson and worked at the family dairy business. He was a China Marine during the Korean War. He married Dorothy Irene Wilson and worked his way through college as an office manager at Jersey Farms Dairy. He graduated from George Peabody/Vanderbilt with a Bachelor and Master's degree to teach but stayed on at Jersey Farms for 30 years. He and Dorothy raised three children and Joe worked as Comptroller at Purity Dairies and retired after seventeen years. Preceded in death by his wife and all brothers and sisters. Survived by: children, Linda Carson, Joseph William "Bud" Lannom, Jr. and Teresa (Tom) McGee; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many friends at The Fountains of Franklin. He felt very blessed to spend the last days of his life there. Per his request, a memorial service will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday, July 15, 2016 at The Fountains, Jim Taylor officiating with veteran military honors. Visitation will be 6-8PM Thursday at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to any veterans support organization.
