Kathy Riggs

Mrs. Kathy Lynn Fix Riggs, age 66 of Franklin, TN, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2014. Loving mother to Kristen & Kara, devoted wife to John and proud grandmother to twelve precious ones. She graduated from Gateway High School in Monroeville, PA, received her BS Degree in Home Economics from Mansfield University and her Masters Degree in Education from Penn State University. She taught school in Pennsylvania for ten years before serving her country. She retired as a Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army in January 1999 after twenty years of active service. She was honored with the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal & National Defense Service Medal and various other awards and citations. Her last career was as a defense contractor culminating with DynCorp International in Falls Church, VA. Preceded in death by her parents, James W. and Beverly Pollock Fix, sisters, Janice Heisey and Sandra Logue. Survived by: husband, John M. Riggs; daughters, Kristen (Michael) Bishop and Kara (Tim Jones) Pointer; stepchildren, Damon (Suzanne Sparks) Riggs, Taylor (Kristen) Riggs and Jahnae (Steve) Meyer; twelve grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with The Rev. Randall Dunnavant officiating. Visitation will be at 5-7PM Thursday and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church, 1420 Wilson Pike, Brentwood, TN 37024. Interment will follow in the Riggs Private Estate Mausoleum in Williamson Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
