HUFF, Mr. Kenneth Edward "Ken", age 86, May 23, 2014. Ken was a lifetime resident of Williamson County and the Burwood Community. A mighty oak to all those who knew him. He was a decorated Korean War Veteran and served his country proudly. Former deputy sheriff under his brother Mutt Huff, community builder and merchant at one of Williamson County's oldest stores, historic Huff's Grocery, where he loved and served his community proudly for over 72 years. His customers and friends in the community were truly a part of his family. With great love and such devotion, he worked every day until his 86th birthday last year when his health began to fail and even then continued to try and go a few hours every day. Ken was a Williamson County institution...besides his family, friends and store, one of his other loves was playing baseball, as pitcher in his youth for the community baseball team managed by his father, Pop, and for the Army Baseball team during the war. He was an avid sports fan and loved Alabama football and the St Louis Cardinals. He was an amazing dad, grandfather and great grandfather who worked tirelessly for his family and taught us a strong work ethic, how to serve and love people with a generous heart. He will forever be missed and never forgotten. The family would love to express deep gratitude to his friends and customers for their love and support over the years and especially in the last months, his doctors, nurses and caregivers, at St. Thomas Hospital and in the last days Alive Hospice. Special thanks to Myrtle Brooks, Denise Stanfield and nephew Van Huff, who worked with Dad and took such great care of him, and to his niece, Linda Poteete, who was amazing to her Uncle Ken and family in helping him over the years have the best care and doctors possible so he was able to live a full and long life.
