Krause, Kenneth Charles, age 86, of Brentwood, TN passed away on November 19, 2015. An accomplished musician, composer, arranger and conductor, Ken was the only child of Aurelia and Elmer George Krause, born April 17, 1929 in Belleville, IL.
Ken received his Bachelor and Master Degrees in Music from Northwestern University. During the 1960s he played with the Atlanta Symphony, served as Assistant Conductor and Arranger for the Atlanta Pops, and toured with Henry Mancini and Tom Jones. In 1971 the Krause family moved to Brentwood where Ken spent 20 years as a percussionist with the Nashville Symphony, serving also as an occasional arranger and marimba soloist. He taught part-time in the music departments of Belmont University and Trevecca University, and worked with author, Roxie Gibson to compose three "Hey God" children's musicals.
Ken and Jean attended First Baptist Church of Nashville where they participated in music activities and had many close friendships.
Perhaps the best fun Ken had in his musical career came after retirement when, in 2000, he collaborated with the Williamson County Department of Parks and Recreation to form the Williamson County Community Band. This all-volunteer band has enjoyed making music together and performing for 15 years. Ken conducted the last concert of the band's 2015 season on November 1st of this year.
