Kent R. Davis of Franklin, Tennessee, was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 1939 and attended Oklahoma State University. Upon graduation with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he began his 35 year career with The Dow Chemical Company in Freeport, Texas. Kent served Dow in a variety of capacities and locations, and was based in Midland, Michigan at the conclusion of his distinguished career. Subsequent to retirement, Kent spent many years researching, writing, and speaking at the Mackinac Center for Public Policy in Midland.
Kent wrote and advised on environmental issues, published a study on Social Security privatization, and appeared in public forums on urban sprawl issues. He also did substantial work on charter schools. He was active in conservative politics, particularly with the Williamson County Republican Party. Kent was a committed church member his entire life, most recently at Franklin First United Methodist Church.

Kent was a man of great faith, strong work ethic, generosity, patience, and kindness. His many friends, business and political colleagues would say that Kent never met a stranger. He was an outstanding man, husband, and father, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Kent was generous to the very end. In lieu of gifts or memorials, he would want you to strongly consider becoming an organ donor, and to use your gifts and resources to help your fellow man.
