Larry Ellis

Larry Ray Ellis died at his home in Franklin, TN on March 25th at the age of 62.
Larry was born on December 17, 1955 in Pasadena, TX, He was the youngest child of Harold and Joan Ellis. As a 1974 graduate of LaPorte High, Larry excelled as a student and athlete. After service in the Army and a few years of living in California, Larry returned to his beloved TX. There he met and married Cheryl Heaberlin in 1990. Over the years, Larry and Cheryl lived in Corpus Christi, TX; Edmond, OK and finally the past 17 years in Franklin, TN. The last four years brought an intense battle with lung cancer.
Larry was an avid reader and often enjoyed sharing his love of knowledge. He was a witty individual who loved football and who was passionate about his faith in Jesus Christ. He was an active and dedicated member of Clearview Baptist Church. He often volunteered at Nashville Rescue Mission and Children's Worship.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving big brother, Randy Ellis. Larry is survived by his wife of 27 years, Cheryl Heaberlin Ellis and sister, Becky Stracener, of Caldwell, TX as well as much-loved extended family and a multitude of friends. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, competitive spirit and gentleness. The word steadfast describes Larry's devotion to his faith, family and country.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 on April 7th in the chapel of Clearview Baptist Church. A lunch and time of fellowship will follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Larry's life.
