Larry Louis Trettenero, 90, of Brentwood, TN, passed away September 18, 2015, with his wife Claudine by his side. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his six children and their spouses: Teresa (John) Phillips of Knoxville, TN; MaryLee of Boston, MA; William (MaryAnne) of Seattle, WA; Robert (Pamela) of Bellville, TX; Laurie (Mark) Alli of Clarkston, MI and Patrick (Patrick MacMurray) of New York, NY; ten grandchildren: Dominic, Kristen, Angela, Danielle, Brian, Emily, Katie, Paul, Hannah and Joseph, and great-grandchildren Christopher, Elizabeth and Tim; many nieces and nephews, and his friend and brother-in-law Walter Blachut. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Kathleen Blachut, his brother Leslie and his sister Alice "Babe" Crain. Born and raised in St. James, MO, he was a veteran of the US Navy and a graduate of Iowa State University. Larry's life of leadership and generosity extended across his family, career and community. He retired from his distinguished 40-year career with Sears, Roebuck & Co. in 1987, as Detroit Regional Manager. An active Rotarian, he served on many boards including The Economic Club of Detroit, The Detroit Chamber of Commerce, Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital (Louisville, KY) and University of Louisville's International Center. He was a member of the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels. After retirement, he founded Volunteers, Inc. in Fairfield Glade, TN, a recruitment organization for local volunteers. Upon moving to Brentwood, TN in 2010, he contributed a weekly volunteerism column to The Tennessean. He was an active fundraiser for the Republican Party. A funeral mass is planned for 2pm on Saturday, September 26 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9100 Crockett Road, in Brentwood. Interment to follow at Williamson Memorial Gardens in Franklin.
