In loving memory of Leland "Moe" Parks Powell, who passed away on January 10, 2016 in Franklin, Tennessee. Leland lived his entire life in the Nashville, Brentwood and Franklin area.
Born in Nashville in 1931, he served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. He spent most of his official career employed by the Army Corps of Engineers for 40 years. Leland had many other hobbies and skills that could also be attributed as careers such as restoring antique automobiles and radios, and was a renowned square dance caller. He was a member of the Mid-Tenn Model A Ford Club for over 40 years as well as a member of the Battlefield Region Antique Car Club of America.
Leland was a member at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ. He is survived by his loving wife Margaret Hewitt Powell, of 56 years, and a wonderful sweet daughter Kelly Powell Findley (Darren), his favorite grand-dog Chewie, brothers Neal Powell, Charles Powell (Barbara), Marilyn Reed (Roger) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Roy G. Powell and mother Irene Powell, Brothers R.G. Powell and Paul Powell and Sisters Francis Sweeney and Eleanor Hayes.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13th from 4:00pm-8:00pm at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home at 3009 Columbia Avenue, Franklin, TN 37064.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January14th at 11:00am with additional visitation beginning at 10:00am at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment, Williamson Memorial Gardens Remembrance Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research at michaeljfox.org.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Mid-Tenn Model A Ford Club, Battlefield Region AACA and the Brentwood Hills Church of Christ Sonshiner's Class.
