Lewis Lockhart

Lewis Lockhart, age 97 of Franklin, TN passed away June 4, 2017. He was born March 15, 1920 in Petros, Morgan County, TN. Preceded in death by 2 months and 2 days by his beloved wife, Thelma Franks Lockhart; his parents, Beatrice Bedford and Samuel B. Lockhart, his sister, Lois Vanwyk, and his first wife, Madge Lockhart. He is survived by step sons, Larry E. Starr of Lithia Springs, GA and Robert M. Starr of Hephzibah, GA; sisters in law, Glynna Dymple Franks and Jane Crockett Franks of Franklin, TN and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Lewis was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army as a member of the 39th Fighter Squadron where he flew a total of 171 combat missions in the P-38 and the P-47. As a testimony to Captain Lockhart's heroic service to our nation, he received the Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Williamson Memorial Gardens by the Reverends Michael Lippard and Katherine Museus, pastors of St. Andrew Lutheran Church.
