Linda Elliott

March 18, 1938 — December 9, 2015

Linda R. Elliott passed away peacefully on December 9, 2015 after a brave battle with brain cancer. A native of Nashville, TN, Mrs. Elliott was the daughter of Nashville architect J. Carl Russell and wife, Agnes A. Russell, both deceased. She graduated from David Lipscomb High School in Nashville and attended Abilene Christian College in Abilene, TX. She grew up riding and showing horses and was an avid tennis player and golfer. Mrs. Elliott was a member of Franklin Road Academy's first board of directors in 1971. She was also a past president of the Nashville Bar Auxiliary and the Tennessee Bar Auxiliary. She worked in Davidson County's Metropolitan Circuit Court Clerk's Office and was retired from the Clerk's Office in the U.S. District Court. She was an accomplished musician, studying under the late Dr. Henry S. Fusner and receiving a recommendation to the American Guild of Organists. Mrs. Elliott is survived by her son, David C. Rutherford, Jr. (Melissa), daughters Lin Rutherford and Lea Rutherford, grandsons Chris and Ian Rutherford, one sister, Susan Lassiter (Bill) and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed. Graveside inurnment services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted 3:00 PM Saturday, December 19, 2015 at the Church of the Redeemer, 920 Caldwell Lane, Nashville, TN 37204 with visitation from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association, Nashville Rescue Mission or Nashville Humane Association. WILLIAMSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 615 794-2289.
