Linda Hubbell

February 8, 1940 — July 17, 2014

Linda Hubbell, aged 74, died peacefully on July 17, 2014 at her home in Thompson's Station, Tennessee, after a long struggle with cancer. Linda was born February 8, 1940, in San Jose, California, the daughter of Harold Johnson and Gertrude Alston.
Linda was an extremely creative and inspiring person, with many interests that she pursued through continuous education, travel, and outreach during her life. An English and Philosophy major by education, she owned bookstores during her working career and continued to extol the virtues of reading long after retirement. She took delight in experiencing the beauty of what God has created in nature and loved to garden, hike, and swim in the ocean. An avid animal lover, she enjoyed the antics of numerous pets and inspired others to recognize the joy animals can bring. She was a gifted artist and musician, playing the violin, viola and singing in many choirs over the years.
Linda was also active as a Constitutional Conservative, making trips to the Capital on several occasions, attending numerous rallies and discussions, and vigorously supporting those values that were close to her heart and which made and keep our nation great.
Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and has been an active volunteer for a variety of non-profit organizations, as well as a care-giver to friends and loved ones over the course of her life.
Linda is survived by her children, Jeannie Hubbell Gawthorpe and Leighton Hubbell; three grandchildren Mason, Caden and Gabel; two brothers Dean and Denis Johnson; six nieces and nephews; and a number of other relatives and close friends.
