Louise Green

Louise Nunnelly Green, age 84 of Franklin, TN passed away April 3, 2018. A native of Hickman County, TN, she was the only child of the late Louise Bailey and William Henry Nunnelly of Vernon, TN. She was a descendant of several pioneer families. Louise graduated from the Holton Arms School in Washington, D.C. and Vanderbilt University, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from George Peabody College. In 1961 she married John M. Green, Jr. and moved to Franklin, in addition to her husband she is survived by a daughter, Leonora (Tony) Clifford; a son, John M. Green, III; and two granddaughters, Sarah Bailey Sargent and Katherine Anne Sargent; and a number of cousins, including Walter and Bill Nunnelly. In 1968 she began working for the Review Appeal newspaper and then, in 1985, joined her husband's company, John M. Green, Realtors. In 1968, she was a founder of the Carnton Club, located at the present Easter Flank battlefield and helped organize the second swim team in Williamson County. In 1968, she was a founder of the Williamson County Newcomers Club. One of the first ten women in Tennessee to earn Wood Badge Beads, from the Boy Scouts of America; she received a Life Membership in the then FSSD Parent Teachers Association. She was a member of Chapter 14, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Old Glory Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Club. She was a member of Heritage Church of Christ. Funeral service will be held 10:00AM Friday, April 6, 2018 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Paul Forshay & Steve Blackman officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Family & Friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Church of Christ, 1056 Lewisburg Pike, Franklin, TN 37064 or Boy Scout Troop 137, 118 4th Ave. N.
