Mrs. Lula Fain Moran Major died April 28, 2015 at home in Williamson County, TN, age 99. She was born October 2, 1915 in Williamson County, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1937 from Vanderbilt. On June 17, 1939, she married Herman Emerson Major. She was an active volunteer in schools, PTA, 4-H Clubs, and Williamson County Library and was a long-time member of the Grassland Home Demonstration Club. History, especially family and Williamson County, has been a lifetime focus through her extensive genealogy research, compilations of family histories, and both visiting and cataloguing cemeteries in Williamson County. A charter member of Williamson County Historical Society, the Old Glory Chapter of the DAR since 1974, and the Tennessee Historical Society. She was a member of Berry's Chapel Church of Christ. Preceded in death by her husband of almost 64 years, Herman Emerson Major; her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Margaret Alexina Moran; sister, Alene Moran Warnock; brothers, T.J., Robert, Houston, Everett, and John Moran. Survived by daughters, Margaret Major and Mary Shearon; three grandchildren, Meg, Houston, and Benjamin (Karine) Shearon; great grandson, Emerson Shearon. Funeral services will be held 11:00AM Friday, May 1, 2015 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Jim Taylor officiating. Interment, Mt. Hope Cemetery. Grandchildren and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Fund or the Williamson County Rescue Squad.
