Following the passing of her dear husband, José Cândido Tavares in 1997, she lived independently in New Bedford, but often traveled to stay for extended periods with her children at their homes in Chicago, Dallas, and Nashville.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria dos Anjos Soares of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts and her husband Tiberio and children Michael and Philip; her son Joe Tavares of Plano, Texas and his wife Margarida and their children Patrick and Nicky; daughter Maria Goreti Moore of Brentwood, Tennessee and her husband Dan Moore and children Daniel, Mary Catherine, and Sarah; and daughter Margaret Warren of Geneva, Illinois and her husband Daniel and children Christopher and Rachel. She was the sister of the late Joéo de Viveiros of South Dartmouth, Valdemira da Rocha of New Bedford, Leonard de Viveiros of Vancouver, British Columbia, and Manuel de Viveiros of Mississauga, Ontario. Her surviving sisters are Mercês Pereira of Boisbriand, Quebec, as well as Evangelina and Luisa de Viveiros of South Dartmouth. Her four children, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and their families, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephew, and her many friends have all been blessed in this life by her smile, her devotion to family and her faith, and her courageous example.
