Marie Basham

Marie Soyars Basham, 70, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on the morning of May 3, 2017 at her home. She was born in Auburn, Kentucky and has been a long-time resident of the Middle Tennessee area since 1970,
Marie attended Western Kentucky University where she earned a degree in business. There she also met her husband, James Basham,. They were married in 1967 and recently celebrated their 50th year of marriage.
Marie enjoyed needlework, crafts, gardening, Bible Studies and teach/tutoring her grandchildren. She was in frequent attendance at Brentwood Academy dance functions where her granddaughters, Claire and Abby Thompson, have performed on the dance and cheer teams.
Loved by all who knew her, Marie was warm, gracious and kind to all she met. She was a dedicated hard worker who enjoyed cooking for her family, reading and gardening. She was also a great listener. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family and her faith in Jesus above all else.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Soyars and Sammie Rogers Soyars. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James Basham; daughter, Penny Basham Thompson (Scott) and son, James Marshall Basham (Carmen) of Dallas, Texas. Her grandchildren are Abby and Claire Thompson of Brentwood, TN; Jake Basham of Dallas,TX. ; Tucker, Emme and Connor Tremayne. Marie is also survived by her sister, Marilee Taylor (Wayne) of Bowling Green, KY and a brother, Roger Soyars (Judy) of Bowling Green, KY, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm Thursday and two hours prior to the service. Inurnment will be held in Williamson Memorial Gardens.
