Mrs. Martha Louise Locke Fox, 89, departed her family and friends on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Grace Healthcare of Franklin. The daughter of the late William Martin and Margaret Isabell Jones Locke, Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Eugene Hardin (Jack) Fox.
Mrs. Fox was born in Leipers Fork where she resided all of her life. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and a graduate of Hillsboro High School. She shared her memories with Rick Warwick for his books on the history of Leipers Fork as she and Jack along with Mrs. Fox's father were the original builders and owners of Fox and Locke Grocery in Leipers Fork, now known as Puckett's Grocery. Being a lifelong resident of Leipers Fork she knew most all of its residents from years gone by. She was a homemaker and spent several years working in the medical practice of Dr. Harry Guffee and Dr. Joel Lee. She also worked in medical records at Williamson County Hospital when the hospital was located on West Main Street. Later she worked as the bookkeeper and guest receptionist at the Travelers Rest Motel in Brentwood until her retirement.
Survivors include five sons: Donald Eugene Fox (Althia) of Foley, Al; Ronald Edward Fox of Leipers Fork, William Martin (Billy) Fox (Kathy) of Cornersville, TN.; Harry Joseph Fox of Leipers Fork and Ricky Jace Fox (Evelyn) of the Bethesda community. 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30PM Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Johnny Webb officiating. Burial in Williamson Memorial Gardens will follow the service. Active pallbearers will be Billy Warren, Eugene Deal, Chad Fox, Matt Fox, Phillip Traylor, Chad Curtis, Jeff Tallaksen and Shane Clark. Honorary pallbearers are Mrs. Wilda Moss, Mrs. Janet Hargrove, Mrs. Jane Parham, the members of the Senior Citizen's Group of Hillsboro and the staff of Grace Healthcare of Franklin.
