October 19, 1942 — November 26, 2018

On Monday, November 26, 2018, Marvin Wray Silvey, loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away at the age of 76.

Marvin was born on October 19, 1942 in Springfield, MO. After growing up in Cedar Falls, IA he received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and his M.D. from the University of Iowa. On June 19, 1968, Marvin married Catharina "Renée" van Eeden in her home country in Cape Town, South Africa. They raised a daughter, Janine, and a son, Brian. Marvin practiced Radiology for 39 years at Associated Radiology and East Valley Diagnostic Imaging in Mesa, AZ. The couple recently relocated to Franklin, TN.

Marvin devoted his life to three passions: his family, his service to patients, and his love of flying. A steadfast presence in the lives of his family, Marvin loved to surprise Renée, Janine and Brian on many trips and adventures. He was a kind and devoted grandfather to Leanne, Sylvie, Remy and Jackson. All his life, Marvin had a special bond with his twin brother Merrill. He was most happy when his family was having fun. He was a respected Radiologist in the Mesa community and cared deeply about his patients. Marvin's earliest memories were of watching airplanes. He served as a Captain in the Air Force as a Flight Surgeon at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana. Marvin received his pilot's license and logged hundreds of hours in his beloved Beechcraft Twin Bonanza.

Marvin was preceded in death by his mother and father, Irene and Herbert Silvey. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Renée Silvey; children, Janine (Chance) Hoag and Brian (Melanie) Silvey; twin brother, Merrill (Lois) Silvey; grandchildren, Leanne Silvey, Sylvie Hoag, Remy Hoag and Jackson Silvey; along with several cousins and nephews.
