Mary Fishburn

March 3, 1924 — April 17, 2011

FISHBURN, Mary J. (Meacham) born March 3, 1924, passed away on April 17, 2011. She is preceded by the love of her life and best friend in life, R.A. (Jack) Fishburn.

"While I was living your visits and concerns for me, especially since Jack's death, were a great comfort and appreciated more than you will ever know." Signed: Mary M. Fishburn

Mary Juanita Meacham was one six (6) children born to Harold and Sadie Page Meacham of the Lieper's Fork Community in Williamson County. The Meacham Family name remains a vital part of that community's heritage. Her brothers, Harold Jr., Milton and Harding preceded her. Mary is survived by two (2) brothers, Wendell and Marshall, her many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
Mary Fishburn was a dear Christian friend to all and her very presence always made the difference at every event or occasion as she met to work, worship, fellowship, serve, celebrate the joy of a newborn child, care for the needs of others, comfort a friend in time of their need, or simply to complete another quilt or other sewing project.
Her love for nature was always evident at her home and remains so to this very day, and reflects her care and perpetual love for nature. Her many gardening talents magnified God's most delicate creations while her heart's desire was made so vivid in the finished quilting and sewing projects accomplished throughout the many years. Mary's talents were beyond measure. She was truly an author and mentor for all things good making a positive difference in the lives of so many people. Her generosities throughout the years cannot be measured. Jack and Mary's benevolent and generous gestures were never published but will live on for years to come and will remain a lasting tribute to them. Jack and Mary touched the lives of people who will never know their benefactors.
In addition to close family, Mary's neighbors and friends at Wellington Square, Hermitage United Methodist Church, the Music City Quilting Guild, The Donelson Senior Citizens (Fifty-Forward) Lapidary Club, and countless others have a wonderful memory to cherish and are each grateful to God for allowing our paths to cross in this lifetime. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Mary's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled within the many lives she touched. There was, is, and forever will be, only one Mary M. Fishburn. Her life defines the true meaning of a valued friendship.
A celebration of her life must continue. Visitation with her family and many friends will begin Monday, April 18, 2011 at 4:00pm at the Hermitage United Methodist Church concluding with a Memorial Service at 7:00pm. Senior Pastor Allen Black and Rev. French Gothard will be officiating. The Church is located at 205 Belinda Dr, Hermitage, TN. 37076.
Friends and Family will gather on Tuesday April 19, 2011, at 10:00am for graveside services (casual dress) at the Leiper's Fork Cemetery. A brief service to be conducted by Dr. French Gothard prior to her interment alongside of her beloved "Jack". Active Pallbearers will be David M. Russell II her nephews Bob, Hal, Rick, Andy, and Jim Keene. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. and Mrs. Billy Daniel, Mary Spicer, Agnes Bossier, Cheryl Russell, Mable Hall, Dr. and Mrs. Paul Gentuso, the Music City Quilting Guild and Fifty-Forward Lapidary friends. Among Mary's expressed wishes, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to a worthy charity.
