MORTON, Mary Louise Alexander. Formerly a longtime resident of Spring Hill and Columbia, passed away peacefully at Elmcroft Memory Care in Lebanon, TN. Born Augusts 30, 1919 to Allidee and George Alexander in Nashville, TN, she is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Lola Morgan and Peggy Morris and her husband of 65 years, Jess Morton, Jr. Survived by daughters, Georganne Heithcock (Tony) Taylor of Nashville and Nancy (Richard) Cleveland of Lebanon; grandchildren, David Heithcock of Columbia, Tim (Jan) Cleveland and Gwen (Jim) Schaetz of Lebanon; great grandchildren, Matt Heithcock, August, Mary, Morgan, Elijah Schaetz and Anna Leigh, Allison and Sarah Cleveland; and one great-great grandchild, Madison Heithcock; nieces, Susie Morton Helm, Megara Morgan; and nephew, Marshall (Susan) Morgan. Mrs. Morton was a life-long member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church and most recently a member of the Ballinger SS Class at Hermitage Methodist. She was an avid bridge player in Spring Hill and Columbia before her move to Hermitage in 1995 where until recent years, she played at the Donelson Senior Citizens. She was a former member of the D.A.R., the U.D.C., the A.P.T.A, the Ladies Hermitage Association, and a life-time member of the James K. Polk Auxiliary. She was a farmer's wife and a homemaker who delighted in entertaining the friends she loved, being involved in her Spring Hill church and until recently providing meals, love and encouragement for her family. Pallbearers are Tony Taylor, Richard Cleveland, Tim Cleveland, Jim and August Schaetz and special friend, Bobby Russell. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Ayers Whitney SS class of First Methodist, Columbia, the Ballinger SS class of Hermitage United Methodist and the caring staff at Elmcroft Memory Care. A service to celebrate her life and homegoing will be held at the Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home in Spring Hill at 12:00pm on Friday August 20, 2010 with family visitation one hour prior to the service.
