Quick, Mary Cannon, 93, of Lookout Mountain, TN, died Wednesday May 8, 2019, peacefully at her home. The daughter of James and Sarah Anderson Cannon, she was born April 4, 1926 in Franklin, TN. She graduated from Franklin High School and attended Randolph-Macon College for Women. She was preceded in death by her husband, Greg Quick, son Paul Quick and brother Brown Cannon. She is survived by daughter Sara Irick (Robert) and son Jim Quick (Trina); granddaughters Cowles Whitley (Josh), Ellen Gilchrist and Margaret Todd Truluck (Clark); great-granddaughters Sara Cannon Whitley and Lilla Truluck , and great-grandsons Paul Whitley and Evans Whitley; sister-in-law Marguerite Cannon; nephew Ed Cannon and niece Mary Lee Schaefer; and grand-nieces Emmy Schaefer and Sarah Schaefer. During her long marriage to Greg, Mary was instrumental to his successes in the textile industry. Mary was an avid reader, especially enjoying books about American history and current events. Her mornings always started with the perusal of several newspapers. She enjoyed golfing, discussing politics and participating in the Great Decisions Group. When Greg and she lived in Nashville they were members of the First Presbyterian Church and later in life were congregants at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church. A woman with a generous heart, Mary contributed to many charities including the Special Olympics, Wounded Warrior Project, Toys for Tots and the Humane Society. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 on Saturday, May 11 at Mt Hope Cemetery in Franklin, TN. The family wishes to give heartfelt thanks to Mary's helpers Chanda and Dean, her caregivers Esther, Sherri, Karen, Tammy, Jennifer and Heather and hospice nurse Brenda.
