Mary Scott

Mary Ruth Nicholas Scott, age 91 of Bellevue, TN passed away March 22, 2021 at her home. Mrs. Scott was born, August 30, 1929 in St. Mary's, West Virginia. She graduated from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee, and she received her master's degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She retired from the Knox County School System in 1990 as a librarian. She married Harold L. Scott, a church of Christ minister, and together they ministered at churches in Durham, and Statesville, North Carolina and Sumter and Florence, South Carolina. In addition, they ministered at the Arlington church of Christ in Knoxville for 27 years, moving to Oak Ridge in 1997 to work with the New York Avenue church of Christ. Mr. and Mrs. Scott also worked in the mission field for six years in New Zealand. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy W. Nicholas and Nora Lee Gartin Nicholas, and by a son Gray Scott. She is survived by her husband, Harold L. Scott; daughters, Linda Scott Trevathan and husband Ed of Nashville, TN and Sara Scott Camp of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Alison Baker and husband Jonathan of Austin, TX, Scott Trevathan and wife, Libby of Los Gatos, CA, Daniel Trevathan of Nashville, TN, Luke Trevathan and wife Amy of Nashville, TN, William Camp of Nashville, TN and Nathan Camp of Nashville, TN; great-grandchildren, Jean & Kiki Baker, Ben, Veda & Jules Trevathan. A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Bellevue Church of Christ, 7401 Hwy.
