Marylyn (Morrissey) Roberts, 89, died peacefully on November 1, 2024 in Nashville. Born on June 26, 1935, Marylyn grew up with her parents and four older brothers in Salt Lake City, Utah, then after attending the University of Utah her freshman year, moved back east with her family and graduated from Chestnut Hill College in Pennsylvania. During summer school at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., she met Howard Roberts and the two married in 1957.

Marylyn, who worked as a teacher’s aide then as an admin for the CIA in Langley, Va. near her family’s home in Vienna, Va., was always active as a volunteer in the Catholic Church, especially in Charlotte, North Carolina where she and her husband retired. Howard passed away in 2014.

In 2020, Marylyn moved to the Heritage in Nashville where as soon as Covid restrictions were lifted, she became very involved in activities like swimming, happy hours, and shopping excursions. She treasured the friends she made here, both residents and staff.  Known for her sunny spirit which earned her the nickname “Sparkle”, and her exceptional sense of humor, Marylyn is survived by her four children, daughters Cynthia Taylor (Doug), of Chesterfield, Va., and MaryBeth Roberts (Ron Modra), of Nashville, Tenn.; and sons Mark Roberts (Tresa Jalot) of Franklinton, N.C. and John Roberts (Traci) of Nashville, Tenn, and her grandchildren Ryan (Haley) and Shaun (Erin) Taylor: Jordan (Aryssa), Will, and Lauren Roberts; and Michael (Brittany) Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, and Kami Lawrence.
