Melanie Allen

Allen, Ms. Melanie S. age 59 of Franklin, TN. Following an eleven plus year battle with cancer she finally succumbed to the disease on June 8, 2014. Melanie was born in the U.S. Naval Hospital in Orlando, FL on January 13, 1955 to her parents, USAF S/Sgt. James O. and Betty G. Smith. Melanie graduated from Clarkston Georgia High School in 1973 and briefly attended DeKalb County Community College. She was employed by department stores and hotels in the Atlanta area and hotels in Nashville, and for 21 years at the Tennessee Baptist Convention. Melanie is survived by two daughters, Tiffany Allen of Paris, France and Heather (Drew) Burkot previously of San Antonio, TX; parents, James & Betty Smith of Nashville, TN; brothers, Stephen (Rhoda) Smith of Ruther Glen, VA & Gregory (Kathy) Smith of Vernon, VT; sister, Jennifer (Joe) Marksteiner of Monoca, PA and various nieces, nephews and cousins. She was previously a member of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church of Nashville. Memorials can be made to the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
