Michael Ambrogi

February 19, 1982 — August 28, 2020

Michael Thomas Ambrogi, age 38, of Nashville, TN, passed away on September 28, 2020. Michael was born on February 19, 1982, in Nashville, TN. As a child, Michael loved to explore the inner workings of machines and electronics, taking apart and putting together anything he could get his hands on. His love for the outdoors, fishing, and camping led him to many years in the Boy Scouts of America. As he grew older, Michael developed a dry and witty sense of humor, never failing to pull a prank, crack a joke, or insert a brilliant one-liner at the most appropriate, or inappropriate, of times. Michael attended high school at Benton Hall Academy, graduating in 2000 and rounding out his senior year as prom king. Following his graduation, Michael joined a five-year apprenticeship program with the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local Union to obtain his certification as a Building Trades Journeyman. Using his innate abilities and learned skills, Michael began a fulfilling career servicing and remodeling universities, medical centers, and government buildings all over middle Tennessee. Many knew Michael through the lens of addiction, a battle he fought for many years. Yet it did not define who he was or how he should be remembered. Those close to Michael knew the caring, compassionate, loving, hard-working, and hilarious person that he truly was. During times of clarity, Michael was passionate about devoting his time to the Tres Dias ministry of Nashville, serving others in a weekend retreat of spiritual growth and guidance. He hoped that by sharing his personal struggles and triumphs, he could help others find God's grace in their own lives. Michael is preceded in death by his parents; Walter Thomas Ambrogi, III, and Sandra Elizabeth Sneed Ambrogi. He is survived by his sister, Maria Ambrogi (Prescott) Weldon; nephews, Jackson and John Walter Weldon; and his unwaveringly devoted friend and confidant, Twyla Lee Long. In lieu of flowers, and with the hope of helping others struggling with addiction to find the path to long-term recovery, donations can be made in Michael's name to Discovery Place Addiction Treatment Center at 1635 Spencer Mill Rd., Burns, TN 37029.
