Michelle Jean Griffin, age 69 of Franklin, TN. passed away July 25, 2016.
Michelle was a mother, grandmother, wife, nurse, and lawyer. She raised her son with a love of music from Cher, the Commodores, the Spinners and the joy of comedy from Bill Cosby and Carol Burnett ; plus the weekend horror movies hosted by Bob Wilkins on "Creature Features" on KTVU Channel 2 in Oakland California and the watching of "Young Frankenstein" every Christmas eve.
Born in California, she raised her son in Hayward and San Lorenzo, coming to Franklin TN in 2013. She enjoyed her work with "NARFE" (National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association), swimming at the Rec Center, and attending her Sunday school class at the People's Church.
Preceded in death by her husband of 29 years - Junius A. Pitts
Michelle is survived by her son and daughter in law, Douglas & Sheryl Griffin, her granddaughter Lauren Belk (Stephen) and grandson, Garic Griffin. Also children in California Barbara Pitts, Doris May Pitts and Junius Pitts Jr
A Celebration of Life service will be held 6:30PM Sunday, July 31, 2016 in the chapel of The Church of the City, located at 828 Murfreesboro Road in Franklin. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service and following the service have time for food & fellowship.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family encourages everyone to instead send flowers to someone they love or may not have seen in a while. Donations are encouraged to go to a local suicide prevention ministry such as www.suicidepreventioncarefund.org or www.jasonfoundation.com
