GEORGEFF, Mr. Boris of Franklin passed away Nov. 23 at the age of 91. He was predeceased in 1982 by his beloved wife of 39 years, Marie Vincent Georgeff. Born in 1921 in Omaha, Neb., to Vanche and Helen Georgeff, he served in the U.S. Army for 28 years and retired in 1968 as a lieutenant colonel in the Medical Service Corps. He received a Bronze Star for service in Vietnam. While in the Army, he graduated from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. He attended several colleges and universities during his military service and earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. After he left the Army, he earned a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina. He then began work for the Tennessee Department of Public Health, rising to director of the state Medicaid program from 1979-1982. From 1982-1987, he was administrator of the Harpeth Terrace Nursing Home in Franklin, now called Grace Healthcare. Boris was a gregarious and generous man, often the life of the party. He was also a loving husband and father, always present. He loved bluegrass music, which he discovered on moving to Tennessee. He enjoyed going to music clubs, especially Kimbro's in Franklin, and festivals and liked to treat out-of-town guests to a night at the Grand Ole Opry. One of his favorite activities was attending the monthly potluck and bingo for seniors at the Community Center where he could socialize with his friends. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Franklin. He also was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. Boris is survived by two children, Ronald Georgeff of Wethersfield, Conn., and Patricia Georgeff of Phoenix, Az. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Nicholas Georgeff of Burlington, Vt.; and Lucy Georgeff and her partner, Oliver Owen of Perkinsville,Vt.; and one great-granddaughter, Eva. There will be a mid-week private graveside military funeral for family and a public memorial service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Dec. 1 at 2 p.m., preceded by a reception a 1 p.m. at the church.
