BISCEGLIA, Mr. Francis "Frank" Xavier, age 66 of Brentwood, TN, March 16, 2013. Sadness hit Nashville this week as a true force of nature with a big heart, Frank Bisceglia left us. Forks are at half mast at Palms across the country but herefords and lobsters breathed a sigh of relief. Goofballs and numbsculls lost their spiritual leader . His undergraduate degree was from the University of Maryland but he also had a Masters in backyard pool chemistry. A true artist, his medium was car wax and his canvas a red convertible. A connoisseur of the medium rare and an avid collector, he was considered the world's foremost authority on points programs. As a matter of fact, he turned in points for an upgrade on his flight to heaven. A world traveler, he was the Chief Engineer of the Nashville Downstairs Railroad. He was routinely ranked by the AP in the top 20 Grandpas in a recent nationwide poll. A gadget guru, a long driver, a grill master, a math wiz and a computer maven, he could build it, fix it, calculate it, flip it and whack it a mile. For over 20 years, he was the Chairman of the Chicago Pizza Banquet where the dress code was more black bag and less black tie. In service to his country, he was a Sergeant in the Army in the late 1960's but he was more inspired by Sergeant Bilko than Sergeant York. He joined Service Merchandise in Nashville when it was only a handful of stores and led its merchandising strategy and a staff of over 200 buyers during the company's most successful years as the company grew to over $2 billion in sales. A wonderful husband, spectacular father, legendary Grandpa, he was a great friend, brother, boss, mentor, parishioner and patriot. He loved fast boats and fast cars and one woman, his wife of over 42 years, Maggie. His children Jeremy and Jennifer and Megan and Danny were his purpose and his grandchildren Jeremy, Frankie II, Alex, Riley and Abby were his ultimate joy. He had a storybook life but he liked the movie better. Frank asked that donations be sent to the ALS Association of Nashville and the Alive hospice.
