MOREHEAD, George Philip - Age 103, of Nashville, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2009. Preceded in death by wives, Juanita Lanier Morehead and Annette Lawson Morehead. George is survived by his wife of 9 years, Betty Jane Beck Morehead, daughter Karen Morehead Seyfert, son G. Philip Morehead, stepdaughter Saundra Hays, five grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and thirteen step great-grandchildren. He founded Morehead Tree Surgery in Nashville, which he owned for more than fifty years. George was a Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner for more than fifty years, and served as Captain of the Potentate's Guard (Al Menah Temple). His autobiography Yes! By George tells of his adventurous life, including time in the CCC, raising purebred Simmental cattle on his ranch on the Southfork in Cody, Wyoming, and traveling the world in his eighties. Always exuberant, George never lost his love of meeting new people and will be missed by his family and friends new and old. Visitation will be Friday, December 4, at Williamson Memorial Gardens, Franklin, from 6:30 to 7:30. A Masonic Funeral will be held there from 7:30 to 8:00, followed by another half hour of visitation. Funeral will be held at the Chapel of Brentwood United Methodist Church, 1:00 Saturday, December 5. It will be preceded by an hour of visitation in the chapel and followed by a graveside service at Williamson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospitals and mailed to Al Menah Shrine Center, 1354 Brick Church Pike. Nashville, TN 37207.
