James Earl Jones passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his home in Brentwood, Tennessee surrounded by his family. Jim was born September 19, 1944 to John Allen and Willa Conoly Jones in Lumber Bridge, NC. He graduated from Hoke County High School. Jim served in the Navy during Vietnam before attending East Carolina University. He was a long time resident of Brentwood, where he was a successful businessman, avid volunteer and devoted husband and father. Jim is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Carol; sons, Christopher Neal Jones of Nashville & Michael Reed (Kristine) Jones of Pasadena, CA; daughters, Kelly Anne Jones of Chattanooga & Kimberly Lynn Jones of Brentwood; granddaughter, Elena Arevik Jones; brother, Whiteford & William Jones; sister, Catherine McNiell and sister in law, Barbara Jones all of North Carolina, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jesse & Robert Jones and sisters, Anne Oliver & Mary Cobb.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 9 at Williamson Memorial, at 4 pm, David Kidd officiating with visitation two hours preceding the service (2-4 pm). An additional memorial will be held at Sandy Grove United Methodist Church in Lumber Bridge, NC at a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Operation Stand Down: Nashville.
