Mr. James Vaughn

VAUGHN, Mr. James A. age 86 left this life December 31, 2011 to enter the rest in heaven promised him when he accepted Christ's invitation years ago to "Come Follow Me". Greeting him there are his parents Alec & Avalyn Marlin Vaughn, brother, George Vaughn, sister, Christine Reed and her husband Walker Reed, brother in law, Arthur Whidby, great nephews, Michael Tywater and Chad Davis. He was born in Williamson County, where he has lived all of his life. On the day of his graduation from Franklin High School in 1943, he received his induction papers to serve his country in the U.S. Army. After training he served in New Guinea as Staff Sergeant for several years. Upon returning to Franklin he resumed his job as delivery man for Franklin Laundry. Later he worked at Hall & Pinkerton Insurance Agency adding his name when buying into the agency. He was married in October, 1952 to Evelyn Scruggs and they have three sons. Upon returning home he accepted Christ and became a member of First Baptist Church (The People's Church) in Franklin. He taught boys and young men, was an active deacon, sang in the church choir, served at Room In The Inn for many years until his failing health. He was a charter member of Franklin Civitan Club. Survived by: loving wife of 59 years, Evelyn Scruggs Vaughn; sons, James Anthony (Tarenda) Vaughn, Paul Timothy (Jennie) Vaughn, Gregory Trey (Jeanene) Vaughn; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers, Jack (Sharon) Vaughn, Raymond (Janice) Vaughn, Bobby (Christine) Vaughn, Richard (Brenda) Vaughn; sisters, Dorothy (Eugene) Newcome, Mary Whidby, Gladys (Charles) Hulan; Betty Ann (David) Duncan; sister in law, Henrietta Vaughn; special nieces, Paula (Jimmy) Harris & Pamela (Bob) Bierwagen; many other nieces, nephews; loving family members and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at The People's Church (First Baptist Church), Dr. Rick White, Ed Alexander & Dick Wells officiating. Visitation will be 3-8PM Monday at the church and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Boyd Bible Study Class, ROMEO Lunch Club, Jim Mabry, Wayne Whidby, Bryan Vaughn, Michael Vaughn, and all the young men he taught and influenced at church.
