Mr. John Sites

September 20, 1913 — January 15, 2012

SITES, Mr. John Kenneth, age 98, passed away Sunday, January 15 at Willow Springs Assisted Living. Born in St. Elmo, IL, he grew up in Salem, IL. He moved to West Palm Beach, FL in 1941 with his wife Velma. They moved to Thompson's Station, TN in 2007. Mr. Sites retired after 37 years as an employee of the Palm Beach Post Times. He taught a men's Sunday School class at First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach for more than 50 years and served in many other lay positions including deacon chairman, training union director and missions committee chairman. After raising two daughters and providing them a college education, he enrolled at Palm Beach Community College and received an associate degree in English. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Aaron Velma Sites; his parents, J.C. and Gertrude Judy Sites; and eleven siblings. Mr. Sites is survived by his daughters, Janet Reid and husband Lowell, Margaret Reid and husband Don; grandchildren, John Reid, Suzanne Jones and husband Birch, Karen Renfrew and husband Bill, Leigh Ann Swords and husband Jeff; great-grandchildren, Juliana, Holt, Carolina and Zac Jones, Bradley, Bailey, and Bryant Swords and Cooper Renfrew; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Underwood and Catherine Muck. Receiving of friends will be held at 1:00pm Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home (5239 Main Street, Spring Hill, TN 37174) prior to the funeral at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Hope for the World Missions offering at The Church at Station Hill, 4615 Thompson's Ridge Rd., Thompson's Station, TN 37179.
