Mr. Kerry Stephen McDaniel, age 51 of Columbia, TN, November 30, 2009. Kerry was born July 26, 1958 in Union City, TN. He is survived by his parents, Billy Ray and Melba Lois Stanfill McDaniel of Lewisburg, TN. He was married to his childhood sweetheart Stella Marie Cook on August 29, 1997. Kerry is also survived by his sister, Rhonda (Edward) Bentley, Spring Hill, TN; brother, Jeff (Tina) McDaniel, Columbia, TN; father in law & mother in law, Stanley & Sally Cook, Hernando, FL; brother in law, Stanley Cook, Jr., Jacksonville, FL; sister in law, Sonia Cook, Palm Harbor, FL.
Even though Kerry never had any children, he was very much a "family man" who loved all of his nieces and nephews. Each one was very special to him. His nieces, Melissa (Kevin) Harrell , Spring Hill, TN, Sherry & Trisha Bentley Spring Hill, TN, Ashley & Magen McDaniel, (Columbia, TN & Stephanie Cook, Las Vegas, NV; his three nephews, Ryan McDaniel, Columbia, TN, Tim Hickey, Orlando, FL & Stanley Cook, III, Lansing, MI. Kerry really enjoyed spending time with his great nieces, Hannah & Hailey Harrell & great nephews, Nathan Harrell & Keaton Bentley. He will also be missed by his faithful companion who never left his side, his dog, Buck.
Kerry was our family planner who made sure we always got together for every holiday. Kerry was the one we depended on, or worried about, planning all of our many dinners together. He had a passion for cooking and trying new recipes out on everyone. He was the master of barbecue. He enjoyed watching TV cooking shows to keep up on the latest meal to prepare, Emeril was his favorite. He spent time watching Civil War documertaries on the History channel and watched practically every Western movie and Gunsmoke re-run there was.
Kerry loved to fish and hunt with his Uncle Sonny and his hunting beagles, of which Kerry raised several, Jake & Jack to mention. Kerry will be in heaven with Uncle Sonny doing a lot of hunting and fishing in the big pond with his good friend Jerry Wilson, Grand Ledge, MI.
Kerry enjoyed going to auctions with his wife Stella searching for antiques and collectibles. Camping and fishing along the banks of Land Between The Lakes with Stella and family members was also a passion. Vegetables and herb gardening was a summertime favorite.
Kerry graduated from Portland High School in Portland, MI. He was employed for 10 years at Haley Tool & Die in Franklin and Penske in Spring Hill as a delivery driver and tow motor operator. Kerry fought illness for several years, fighting diabetes and a list of other ailments until his passing. Special friends are his doctors and nurses that cared for him for many years at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Kerry will be missed by all that touched his life.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Friday, December 4, 2009 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home with Jesse Harrell officiating. Interment Spring Hill Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Dennis Ellis, John Porter, Kevin Harrell, Brian Bennett, Danny Cannon and Jeremy Ring.
