Mr. Paul Madden

Paul K. Madden, age 56, of Thompson's Station, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2011. Paul was born in Elmira, New York on January 22, 1955, to Rita H. Madden and the late Thomas J. Madden. Paul spent his childhood in New Hartford, New York. He moved to Tennessee in 1993 where he met the love of his life, the former Connie Smith Herzog. Paul and Connie were married in Franklin on August 3, 2002. Paul had a varied professional career, with his heart and dedication to his luthier talent as Madden Guitars. He never met a piece of wood he didn't like. Paul was renowned as the "guitar whisperer", and his devotion to creating beautiful instruments led to friendships far and wide. Paul had the gift of gab and was a master of bad jokes. His gentle soul and generosity benefitted all who knew him. Paul was a loving and devoted husband, son, brother, uncle, and stepfather. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas J. Madden, on November 15, 1991. Paul is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Connie, his mother, Rita H. Madden of New Hartford, NY; his sisters, Celeste Madden, M.D. (Larry Consenstein, M.D.), Marcia (Gary) Scalzo, Sheila Madden, Diane Madden Dawson and his loving stepsons, Matthew Herzog and Stephen Herzog. Paul also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins; as well as many devoted friends, particularly his Tennessee family, Randy and Sheryl Allen. Memorial Services will be conducted 3:00PM Monday, June 13, 2011 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Jim Taylor officiating.
