Mrs. Barbara Lange

LANGE, Mrs. Barbara Delphine "Del" age 93 of Brentwood, TN, April 1, 2011. The only child of Alfred and Bertha Robbins Roberts was born in New York, NY where her father Alfred was a chemist and principle in the consulting chemist's firm Bull and Roberts. Del studied sociology at Mount Holyoke College where she graduated in 1938. She and C. Kenneth Lange were married October 1, 1938 and they had one child Barbara Elizabeth. Del and her husband Ken moved from New York, where he was a rubber broker, to North Carolina where they operated first a chicken farm and then a dairy farm. After they retired to DeLand and Daytona Beach, Florida. Del was a math and science Braille transcriptionist for the National Braille Association from 1962 to 1994. She gave up her Braille work to care for Ken who suffered from and ultimately died from Alzheimer's in December 1995. Shortly after Ken's death Del moved to Brentwood, TN where she has lived with her daughter Barbara and son in-law Don. Del is survived by her daughter Barbara Elizabeth Kinser, two granddaughters Elizabeth Ann Kinser and Cynthia Elaine Kinser Mills as well as five great grandchildren, Airman 1st Class Frederick Davis Quarles, Lauren Elizabeth Quarles, Rachel Elizabeth Carter, Kendall Ryan Quarles and Julianna Ruth Mills. Memorial Services will be conducted 4:00PM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Bob Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers it was Del's wish that contributions be directed to the National Braille Association, Inc. 3 Townline Cr.
