Mrs. Carole Kammerud

June 11, 1947 — June 8, 2013

Carole Millicent Puryear Kammerud, age 65, died on June 8, 2013. Carole was born and raised in Franklin and Nashville. She raised her family in Mt. Juliet, and spent her final years at her childhood home in Crieve Hall. She cared for both of her parents as they aged, and was accompanied in her last year by her children. She had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh. She was an avid bird watcher and wildlife enthusiast, a dedicated mother, and a creator of crafts her whole life. She attended the University of TN-Knoxville, earning a BA in Psychology/Sociology. She spent the bulk of her career as a secretary at Showbiz, Inc. in Nashville, TN and spoke of many fond memories of her time there. As she raised her children, she emphasized the importance of creativity and imagination and wrote her own stories and poems, with illustrations supplied by her husband Robert Kammerud. She was much loved by family and friends, and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her father, Adolphus Puryear; her mother, Millicent Puryear; and her husband, Robert Kammerud. She is survived by her children, Lisa and Chris Kammerud and her brother, Adolphus Puryear Jr.
Visitation will be Wednesday June 12, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, 10:30 a.m. until the funeral services at 12 p.m. All events will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. Jim Taylor will be officiating. Interment will be in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to The Nature Conservancy.
