Mrs. Helen McMeen

December 6, 1924 — June 17, 2013

Mrs. Helen Higginbotham Mc Meen, age 88, of Franklin, TN, June 17, 2013. Born in Monticello, KY, lived most of her life in Spring Hill, before retiring near Franklin. Graduated from Spring Hill High School and attended David Lipscomb College. She was a member of the Beech Grove Church of Christ. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. Those roles as well as being a farmer's wife and an elder's wife were all labors of love. Preceded in death by parents, Essie and Ona Higginbotham, husband of 59 years, Charles W. McMeen and beloved granddaughter, Mary Helen McMeen. Survived by: son, Mark W. (Joie) McMeen; sisters, Eva (Wayne) Hardison and Glena (Lloyd) Royse. The family expresses sincere appreciation to her compassionate physician Dr. Joseph Willoughby and her longtime caregivers, Jackie Russell and Yolanda Fruster. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, John Hayes and Charles Hardison officiating. Deacons of the Beech Grove Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Private family graveside will be held in Spring Hill Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Mary Helen McMeen Endowment, in memory of Helen McMeen, Columbia Academy, 1101 West Seventh St., Columbia, TN 38401.
