Mrs. Marcy Payne

PAYNE, Mrs. Marcy Ann Melvin, age 47 of Franklin, TN, October 2, 2010. Ten years ago Marcy was winning 5 and 10K races. She was room mother, Brownie troop leader, and soccer mom. She was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and had to resign her executive director position with Happy Tales Humane - the no kill animal shelter she started in Franklin, TN. In three years the disease led to total paralysis and being on life support. Even so, Marcy continued to inspire everyone she met to love and to have faith, courage and compassion. Survived by: husband, Rob Payne; son, Matthew Loshin; daughter, Darcy Payne; step son Dr. Troy (Carrie) Payne; parents, Dean & Karen Melvin; sisters, Denise Melvin, Laura (Danny) Jennings & Joni (Fred) Thiede and other loving family members. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at ClearView Baptist Church, Garland Rowland officiating. Interment at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Service Pets will serve as "Pawbearers". Honorary pallbearers will be ClearView Baptist Church's PSALT and Empty Nesters Sunday School classes. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Happy Tales Humane Society, 230 Franklin Rd., Franklin, TN 37064.
