CRABTREE, SR. William Harrison "Bill," age 81, died April 19, 2010 at Alive Hospice in Nashville surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Kelso, TN on October 13, 1928. He is preceded in death by parents: Mattie S. and Monroe D. Crabtree. He is survived by his faithful wife of 57 years, Marian F. Crabtree; daughter: Cynthia C. Lowery (Ed); 4 sons: William Harrison (Sandra) Crabtree Jr. of Franklin; Robert F. Crabtree, Sr. of Harvest, AL; Reaves M. (Helen) Crabtree, Sr. of Birmingham, AL; Richard D. (Allison) Crabtree of Anniston, AL; grandchildren: Elizabeth L. (Ryan) Saffle, J. Harrison Lowery, William H. (Sharon) Crabtree III, Levi B. Crabtree, R. Frazier Crabtree Jr, Lauren C. Mitchell, Lindsey C. (Jason) Morgan, Cara C. (Jeffrey) Grace, Reaves M. Crabtree Jr, John S. Crabtree, A. Brianne Crabtree, Blaire E. Crabtree, Brian R. Crabtree; 9 great grandchildren and his sister Margie C. Stevenson of Franklin. He served in the U.S. Army as the Korean War Veteran. He graduated from the LSU School of Banking of the South. He began his banking career as a state bank examiner in 1947 and later joined Nashville's First American National Bank's correspondent department in 1955. He served as chairman, president and CEO of Union National Bank, Fayetteville, from 1968 to 1989. In addition, he was on the board of the Federal Reserve Bank Atlanta, a member of the National SBA Advisory Council and was a director of the Tennessee Bankers Association. In 2008, Bill was named a "Leader in Banking Excellence" by the Tennessee Bankers Association, an elite group representing Tennessee Bankers past and present who have excelled in areas of banking. He was also very much involved in community service and civic involvement. Until retirement in 2010, he served on the board of directors of Peoples State Bank of Commerce, Nolensville and was chairman of the board of Financial Data Technology Corporation, Franklin. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, an Al Menah Shriner, and supporter of the Shriners Hospital for Children. He served as President of the Fayetteville Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and was active in industrial recruitment for Fayetteville and Lincoln County. He was Chairman of Motlow State College Foundation, the Lincoln County Lions Club, served as a Lincoln County Commissioner and was on the advisory council for the University of Tennessee Space Institute. He was a faithful member of Franklin First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 from 4-7pm and Wednesday, April 21, 2010 from 10-11am, which will be followed by the funeral service at Franklin First United Methodist Church at 11:00am. Family and friends will gather at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville, TN at 3:00pm for the burial. Active pallbearers are Harrison Lowery, William Crabtree III, Levi Crabtree, Frazier Crabtree Jr, Reaves Crabtree, Jr, John Crabtree, Brian Crabtree, and Ryan Saffle. Honorary pallbearers: the officers, directors, staff of Financial Data Technology Corporation, The Horace Edgmon Sunday School Class, Adrian Altshuler, Bob Ashby, Thomas O. Bagley, Paul Capps, James T. Cox, Jeffrey Groce, Dr. Herman Kaplan, Robert "Butch" Mays, Dr. Robert Miller, Jason Morgan, Jack Richardson, John Richardson, Dr. Shari Green and the staff of Alive Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Franklin First United Methodist Church Building Fund, Alive Hospice of Nashville, Shiners Hospital for Children, and Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center for Research.
