Nathan A. Smith, age 93 of Brentwood, TN passed away January 16, 2018. Graduate of Central High School in Nashville, TN in 1942 and Memphis State University, B.S. 1970, M.S. 1976 in Technical Education. World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy as an AMM3/c Naval Air Transport Service VR3. Mr. Smith is retired from Eastern Airlines with thirty-six years of service and installed into the Eastern Airlines Hall of Fame in 2000. A life member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association. After retirement he taught at Memphis Preparatory School and Columbia State Community College in Columbia, TN. He was a member of Walker Memorial Baptist Church and active with the Outreach Sunday School Class. Preceded in death by wives, Yvonne Tuckfield Smith, Hattie Meriwether Smith and Mary Gilliam Smith; father, Owen B. Smith; mother, Sallie Graham Smith and sister, Althea K. Smith. Survived by: daughters, Margaret (Bruce) Tate, Rebecca "Becky" (Robert) Talbert; son, Nathan A. (Kimberly) Smith; step daughter, Pam (David) Ervin; nine grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home, Jim Taylor and Rev. Andy Wolverton officiating. Interment Williamson Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Nathan A. Smith Jr., Joe Lockwood, Bruce Tate Jr., Keith Eddy, Tom Ervin and Daniel Call. Memorials may be made to Walker Memorial Baptist Church.
